Selection Process

A Selection Committee evaluates the background knowledge and research potential of the candidates based on the information submitted with their application and on a technical/motivational interview.

The Committee produces a ranked list of the candidates sufficiently qualified and hence have a reasonable expectation of successfully completing the PhD programme.

The ranking is primarily based on a combination of the following criteria:

  • Quality of previous undergraduate/graduate work

  • Strength of reference letter

  • Quality of the applicant’s research proposal

  • Other evidence of the applicant’s potential
