A Selection Committee evaluates the background knowledge and research potential of the candidates based on the information submitted with their application and on a technical/motivational interview.
The Committee produces a ranked list of the candidates sufficiently qualified and hence have a reasonable expectation of successfully completing the PhD programme.
The ranking is primarily based on a combination of the following criteria:
Quality of previous undergraduate/graduate work
Strength of reference letter
Quality of the applicant’s research proposal
Other evidence of the applicant’s potential
Availability of an advisor in the research area selected by the applicant
